Day Shelter Re-Opens!
The Safe Haven Day Shelter re-opened on Thursday, September 9th. Volunteers and current guests of Safe Haven prepared a lunch of skillet lasagna, fresh salad, and zucchini muffins. The Safe Haven Day Shelter is a way for the Safe Haven staff and volunteers to reach out into the community and offer assistance to the homeless in Longmont and surrounding areas. Opening the Day Shelter means homeless can come to the Safe Haven house and wash their clothing/bedding, take a shower, eat a hot meal, and fellowship with staff and volunteers. "Our organization has been a part of Longmont for the last sixteen (16) years, says Executive Director, Jessica Bennett, and we have always had Day Shelter hours. Unfortunately the COVID-19 pandemic meant we had to press pause on our outreach efforts- that included the Day Shelter. I am so happy that we can, once again, offer up our Safe Haven house to those in need. We are able to currently offer help on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 am to 1 pm. As more funding becomes available and with more and more volunteers helping out our goal is to have our Day Shelter open five (5) days a week!"
