As a member of the Longmont body of Christ, as an expression of our faith, Agape Longmont serves our neighbors with shelter, food, jobs, and encouragement in the name of Jesus.
Agape Safe Haven is a year-round overnight homeless shelter that rotates among church sites in Longmont. The capacity is limited to 15 beds. The beds are reserved for our guests for a full year. We select those guests that would be vulnerable in a traditional emergency shelter: women, the elderly, and disabled adults.
We employ some of our homeless guests who show a desire to overcome their addiction(s) and/or situation. After a few interviews and discussions a guest will be hired on a part-time basis, which allows for resume building and the opportunity to rejoin the work environment. Safe Haven has seen this program rebuild hope and dignity in many guests.
We also work closely with The Manna Cafe, a ministry of The River Church in Lyons, CO. Each year, a few of our guests are hired by the Cafe to work as cooks, dishwashers, and wait staff.
